British Infantry formed the bulk of the forces landing on Sword Beach. There were many famous Regiments in both the Infantry Divisions and providing Motor Battalions in the Armoured Divisions.
For D-Day most were issued with the new pattern helmet, as shown, as well as a life belt.
Our infantryman has just come ashore and is yet to ditch his life belt. He carries the standard issue No4 Lee Enfield Short Magazine rifle (SMLE), which was an extremely accurate .303 bolt action weapon.
The British experimented with camouflage uniforms, but most infantry wore the good old battledress tunic and trousers.
